The problems at hand

• The retail area is crowded with products

• The bakery is a very small building

• The back room where the bakers work is also
  extremely crowded

Sanitary issues

• Our display case is too small
• The employee restroom is adjacent to the retail
  area
• Employees have to fight there way through a crowd
  of people to gain access to the bathroom which is
  right next to the coffees

Sanitary issues continued

• The dishwasher starts his or her shift late in
  the day, so the dishes pile up. Often, products
  coming out of the oven are stored next to dirty
  dishes.

The bakers spend too much time doing jobs that
the retail people could be doing

• Wrapping bread
• Plating cookies and bars
• Wrapping sandwiches
• Placing and arranging products in the retail area
• Writing labels for the products
• Answering the telephone and taking customers
  orders

Proposed solution

• Buy the building next door and use it for the
  retail area.
• This will solve all of the problems!

Benefits to the Bakers

• With the present retail area empty, the bakers
  will have more room to spread out and stay out of
  each other's way
• During busy times, such as the holidays, we will
  have plenty of room to store products after they
  are baked
• More room for stock items

Retail benefits

• The new building will provide at least triple the
  space of the present retail room
• Spread out products so customers can easily see
  them
• Products will be more presentable
• Their will be room for more and a wider variety
  of products
• Their will be room for tables and chairs for
  people to sit and enjoy their baked goods. This
  will bring in more business

Benefits to the business

• During busy times, a large number of customers
  can come in and not feel claustrophobic,
  thereforemore business
• With the products spread out, customers will be
  able to see everything we have and not feel
  overwhelmed.
• With the complete separation of the bakers and
  retail jobs, the bakers will have more time to
  produce and will be able to concentrate better on
  the creativity of our products

• The cost of the building
• Renovations
• More labor cost
• Because of more retail responsibility, there
  would have to be two retail people on at all
  times

Transportation of products

• With two separate buildings, bakers will have to
  bring their products to the new building
• Only thirty feet
• Shorter walk than it is too the restaurant
• Products can be covered when there is bad weather

• The proposed solution will definitely cost some
  money. But in the long run, the benefits out way
  the costs.
