• The Salvation Army must once again acknowledge
  its God-given mandate to serve the poor and stand
  up for the oppressed. This is not, and never
  will be, purely the domain of those believers who
  are that way inclined or to those who feel a
  particular burden to the poor a commitment to
  the poor is integral to the Christian faith,
  paramount in the teaching of Jesus and inherently
  part of the character of God and therefore any
  serious follower of Jesus must take seriously
  their responsibility to the poor.

• Reservoir High unemployment, large pockets of
  Government housing, High rate of early school
  drop-outs, socially isolated, lack of hope and
  lack of purpose.

  Local High Schools

  have a place to talk about God with these kids.
• What if we could provide a place for kids to do
  homework and get them help with their homework to
  help them complete year 10 before dropping out?

  who lonely and isolated a place where they
  could belong

• Incarnational Living
• Living the gospel means desiring for your
  neighbour and your neighbours family that which
  you desire for yourself and your family. Living
  the gospel means bettering the quality of other
  peoples lives spiritually, physically,
  socially and emotionally as you better your
  own. Living the gospel means sharing in the
  suffering and pain of othersHow did Jesus
  love?...Jesus relocated. He became one of us.
  He didnt commute back and forth to heaven.
  Similarly, the most effective messenger of the
  gospel to the poor will also live among the poor

• Shop 16 is about building healthy, belonging
  communities where everyone is respected, loved,
  cared for and serving one another. This is so
  important because the people we work with are
  often socially and emotionally isolated and come
  from broken families. Shop 16 aims to provide a
  place of genuine community where kingdom values
  are reflected and those on the margins of society
  are embraced into the centre of community.
