Health Strategy
  • Enhance prevention/promotion HIV programmes, in
    particular peer education for vulnerable groups
    and those targeting youth.
  • Advocate for, support provision of affordable
    anti-retrovirals treatment of opportunistic
    infections in persons living with AIDS
  • Support expansion of services for voluntary
    counselling testing.
  • Support scaling-up of prevention treatment of
    STIs
  • Support initiatives that increase access to
    improve quality of DOTS services, such as
    community based DOTS, collaborative TB/HIV/AIDS
    activities and public-private partnerships
  • Develop regional strategies to mobilise human,
    financial resources ensure uninterrupted supply
    of affordable anti-TB drugs
  • Facilitate financing, procurement distribution
    of effective malaria control interventions, such
    as artemisinin derivatives, insecticide treated
    nets and insecticides, to reach vulnerable
    populations.

  • There is much scope for African continental and
    regional bodies to accelerate the Fight Against
    AIDS, TB and Malaria.
  • The challenge is for us to effectively harmonise
    and co-ordinate our efforts and best deliver our
    niche contributions, mobilising support from and
    working collaboratively with government, civil
    society, partners and agencies.
  • NEPAD is ready to play its part
