Title: More Grace

1
More Grace
  • Luke 736-50

2
First Occurrence theory
  • The first reference made to any word, idea or
concept is of significant importance to its
    meaning and usage throughout scriptures.
  • As we will be dealing with Noah, because he and
his family were the very first recipients of
grace, we can use the dove and the raven as
    examples of first reference theory.

3
First Occurrence theory
  • The first reference made to the dove gave an
impression of truth, clean, purity and
genuineness and this is how the dove is
    characterised throughout scriptures.
  • The first occurrence of the raven on the other
hand, depicted falseness, unclean, contrary and
insincere. This is the nature and character used
to represent the raven throughout the bible. This
is why the raven is an unclean bird. (Genesis
    86-12)

4
Grace found Noah
  • God served death sentence to the human race
because of continuous sin and disregard for is
    very presence.
  • Noah found Grace, in other words grace found Noah
and favoured him for salvation. Genesis 68

5
Grace found Noah
  • Grace This is Gods unmerited favour, mercy and
compassion undeserved, unable to work for it but
it is freely given without any stipulated
    condition.
  • God decided to be merciful to Noah, by his
choice. Noah made good use of Gods grace.

6
Unmerited Favour
  • The Apostle Paul explained to Timothy how grace
is unmerited I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who
has enabled me, because he counted me faithful,
putting me into ministry, although I was formerly
a blasphemer, a persecutor and an insolent man
but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly
in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was
exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which
are in Christ Jesus. 1Timothy 112-14

7
Grace is for the Elect
  • Grace is reserved for the elect of God, those
whom he chooses to be gracious to. God chose
Noah, elected him, to be the recipient of grace.
  • Again, Paul who is a vital witness to Gods grace
stated, Even so then, at this present time there
is a remnant according to the election of grace.
And if by grace, then it is no longer of works
otherwise grace is no longer grace Romans
    115-6

8
Grace for Grace
  • God is so gracious that he always gives us the
fullness of grace grace for grace. When we
should get something else, what we truly and
justly deserve, He gave us grace instead.
  • And of His fullness we have all received, and
grace for grace but grace truth came from the
    Lord Jesus Christ. John 116-17

9
Grace for Grace
  • Revelation of who Jesus Christ is will release
    the full potency of grace.
  • Secure your mind, be sober, and rest your hope
fully upon the grace that should be brought to
you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1Peter
    113
  • In other words to know Christ is to know and
    experience grace.

10
God is helpless with Grace
  • God wants to give an everlasting comfort and good
hope through grace so that you can be
    established. 2Thessalonians 216-17
  • God cant help himself in giving grace, it is
    abundantly available. Rom. 515
  • Because each one of us are in dire need of Gods
grace we cant think that we are better than
another. We are all saved by grace

11
God is helpless with Grace
  • Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or
conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem
others better than himself. Let each of you look
out not only for his own interest, but also for
    the interests of other.
  • Philippians 23-4

12
God is helpless with Grace
  • Each time the enemy sends an antagonistic spirit
to perplex us we must remember that His grace is
    sufficient.
  • The thorn in each person side from time to time
should be subjected by the sufficiency of grace.
  • Pauls thorn in his flesh was sufficiently
    conquered by grace. 2Corithians 127-9

13
Accessing the Grace of God
  • We have access into grace by faith, therefore, we
can stand in any circumstance. Romans 52
  • Since grace is accessible, abundant and
sufficient the only thing we should be asking God
    for is grace.

14
Accessing the Grace of God
  • Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus sat at
Jesus feet and received revelations from him.
She learnt that grace is accessible, abundant and
    sufficient.
  • When Lazarus was sick, Jesus delayed is visit
until he died. When Jesus arrived after the death
of Lazarus he met Martha first.

15
Accessing the Grace of God
  • Martha then went to her sister Mary, and told her
that Jesus was present. She came quickly to Him.
    John 1129
  • Note, she got up hastily and the people thought
that she was going to weep in the grave where
    Lazarus was laid. John 1131

16
Accessing the Grace of God
  • Mary wasnt running hastily to the grave, she was
hasting to the throne of grace.
  • She was running quickly to fall down at Jesus
feet to receive more grace. She wanted Jesus to
be gracious to her need (death of her brother)
and do something about her situation.

17
Mary Needed More Grace
  • In Luke 736, we saw that Jesus was in the house
of a Pharisees and a woman which was a sinner
knew that Jesus was there, she took an alabaster
box of ointment to anoint him.
  • This woman was Mary, the sister of Lazarus and
    Martha

18
Mary Needed More Grace
  • Mary, sins were so much that she was willing to
risk the embarrassment and give to Jesus all she
    had in exchange for grace.
  • She wiped Jesus feet with her hair and washed
his feet with her tears. Tears symbolizes great
    emotional drain.

19
Mary Needed More Grace
  • Mary, realized that Jesus was able to absorb all
pressure as He himself said, Come unto me all
who are labouring and are heavy laden and I
Jesus will give you rest. Matthew 1128
  • She gave all that was glorious and precious to
her to receive more grace from the Lord.

20
Mary Needed More Grace
  • The woman hair represents her glory (1Corinthians
1115), but she used her glory to wipe Jesus
feet. In fact, she gave Him her glory.
  • A person must be so desperate for Gods grace, so
that no religious system, critics, organised
religion and gossipers should stop you from
    receiving Gods grace.

21
Mary Needed More Grace
  • Jesus acknowledged that her sins are many, so she
couldnt hold back giving Him glory to get more
grace, seeing that her debt (sin) was massive.
  • Jesus grace was able to pay for all her sins and
    set her free.
  • Mary knew that people couldnt help her, she was
in serious predicament. Obviously, she was
    depressed, annoyed and devastated.

22
Mary Needed More Grace
  • Mary was overburdened by sin and the only cure
she could hoped for was to encounter Jesus
    grace.
  • She pushed passed the opinions and ridicules and
access grace. This takes determination to receive
the most important thing for satisfaction.

23
It is yours
  • Will you take Gods grace now. It is free, you
need more of it and God is willing to give it to
    you.
  • By grace we are saved.
  • Access Gods grace today and be free from all
    guilt, pain and hurt.
