NCSACW Implemented Under Contract to the Center
for Children and Family Futures
  • We are an Orange County-based policy institute
    dedicated to improving outcomes for children and
    families, particularly those affected by alcohol
    and other drugs and those involved in the welfare
    and child welfare systems
  • Under the direction of Dr. Nancy Young, we are
    developing and implementing the NCSACW.

  • To promote practice, organizational, and systems
    change at the local, state, and national levels
  • By developing
  • A comprehensive program of information gathering
    and dissemination
  • Specialized knowledge and promoting its
    application through providing technical
    assistance

A Consortium Approach
  • CCFF has assembled a consortium of national
    organizations and leaders to help implement the
    NCSACW
  • CWLA Child Welfare League of America
  • NASADAD National Association of State Alcohol
    and Drug Abuse Directors
  • NCJFCJ National Council of Juvenile and
    Family Court Judges
  • APHSA American Public Human Services
    Association
  • NICWA National Indian Child Welfare Association

NCSACW Tasks
  • The are several tasks that will be carried out
    by the NCSACW through multiple activities and
    products. The primary tasks include
  • Collection and Dissemination of Information For
    example
  • Conducting a Literature Review
  • Performing a Need Assessment

  • Providing Technical Assistance
  • There are several levels of technical assistance
    to be provided through the NCSACW. These
    include
  • Brief contacts
  • Materials, questions, referrals
  • Requires research or expert consult
  • Statistics, special topic consultant
  • On Site
  • Facilitate work group, conference speakers,
    specialized training
  • In-Depth
  • Selection of sites and provision of on-going
    technical assistance to implement systems, policy
    and practice changes
