Princess Victoria
  • Alexandrina Victoria was born on 24th May 1819 at
    Kensington Palace to the Duke and Duchess of Kent
    who called her Victoria from birth.

Succession to the Throne
  • 1820 Victorias father Edward, Duke of
    Kent, dies
  • 1830 George IV dies
  • 1830 William IV accedes to the throne
  • 1837 William IV dies
  • 1837 Victoria accedes to the throne

Marriage
  • Victoria married her cousin, Prince Albert of
    Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, on 10th February 1840 at St.
    Jamess Palace. Both were just 20 years old.

    Victorias death.

Mourning
  • 1861 Queen Victoria was plunged into mourning
    when Prince Albert died of typhoid fever.
  • 1861-1874 Queen Victoria seldom went out in
    public after her husbands death. She wore black
    mourning clothes and spent much time at Balmoral
    Castle in Scotland.
  • 1874 Victoria came out of mourning and resumed
    her public duties.

Reign
  • At present Queen Victoria is the longest reigning
    monarch in British history. During her 64 years
    as Queen she instigated many changes in Britain
    which we benefit from today.
  • Under her reign the British Empire grew to cover
    one quarter of the worlds land mass, the largest
    empire ever known.
