19
Special Education - Dr. Barudin
  • Listed is the number of classified students
expected to be enrolled at Holland Annex for the
    2004-2005 school year.
  • It is proposed that the Child Study Team and
secretary currently using Room A57 remain in
their office and provide direct case management
to the expected 149 classified students expected
to be at Holland Annex. It also is requested
that the current guidance room adjacent to their
office remain available for parent meetings,
    student evaluations and counseling.

20
  • 3. It also is proposed to create a secondary
vocational program at Holland Annex. Classroom
space is not available at TCHS and the District
currently has no appropriate secondary program
for cognitively impaired students. A life skills
apartment already has been set up at Holland
Annex using IDEA funds and it is requested that
only one classroom be made available for the 32
students involved in this program that will be
coordinated with the Mercer County Arc.

21
  • All CST and secretarial staff are included in the
    Department of Special Services budget.
  • The secondary Life Skills/ARC program is fully
funded through the Districts Fiscal Year 2005
    IDEA Basic Entitlement grant.

22
Proposal and Rational for
  • Maintaining CST in Room A57 with adjoining room
and parent meetings, student testing and
    counseling.
  • Maintaining current Life Skills apartment and one
classroom for new secondary program for 32
    cognitively impaired students.

  • Information from Starbase
  • Information from Project Special
  • Assumes that classified students currently on
inactive list do not re-enroll and that all
current 12th grade classified students graduate
    in June 2004.
  • 1 Teacher and 2 Paraprofessionals to be hired
    with FY 2005 IDEA funds
  • Department of Special Services already has
expended significant funds to set up the CST
office and model apartment at Holland. Using one
classroom for 16 students daily (the other 16
will be at the ARC program) is necessary to have
    an in-district secondary vocational program.
