- This presentation describes procedures to
- navigate from the UTHSC College of Nursing site
to the UTHSC Library databases, and - locate references and save them to EndNote.
- This does not describe full-text search
techniques.
3Navigate to UTHSC library site from the College
of Nursing home page
Navigate to the Library link from the Nursing
Quick Links on our home page, and click to open
the Library Web Site.
4Select Ovid site link on UTHSC library site
Select Ovid database from the Most Popular
Resources drop down list on the Librarys home
page.
5Select the Medline database on the Ovid site
On the Ovid Choose a database window, Select
the most current Ovid Medline database, and
then click the red Continue button to open
Medline.
6Initiate search procedures for an article
Initiate an article search in the Ovid Medline
search pane. For our example, I will click the
Title link to open the Title Search pane.
7Enter search terms
Enter an article title (or part of one) in the
Medline search field, and then click the red
Search button.
8Select records to display
The number of matches for your search will
display in the Search History pane in the
Results column. Click the Display icon to
show the records.
9Select records to export
The articles you selected to display will show on
the Medline Search Results window. Check the
box next to the record and then make selections
for exporting to EndNote in the Results Manager
pane below the record(s) described on next
slide.
10Choose export settings
Make selections for the first three columns in
the Results Manager at the bottom of the Medline
Search Results screen. My settings will send the
selected results, including an abstract, directly
exported to EndNote. Then click the Save icon
under Actions.
11Browse to locate the EndNote library for your
reference. Highlight the library file name and
click Open.
Highlight EndNote File and then click Open in
lower right corner.
12The reference will display in the EndNote library
Click on the Record (above) to display the
Reference (below).
13Display all references in library.
To display all references in library click
References and then Show all References.
Results next slide.
14All records show Style displayed
All records in Library display.
Style can be changed by opening drop down box.
