Important Dates
  • Late registration deadline for the October 4th
    SAT September 16
  • Regular registration deadline for the November
    1st SAT September 26
  • Regular registration deadline for the October
    25th ACT September 19
  • Have all college applications completed and
    submitted by November 1st for maximum scholarship
    consideration
  • Financial Aid Night is November 13th, 700
    830pm in the cafeteria

  • SAT

SAT Subject Tests
  • Specialized Tests
  • Math, S.S., Science, English, Language
  • 1 hour tests
  • Given the same day as the SAT reasoning but
    cannot take both on same day
  • Check test schedule for specific tests given on
    each date
  • Can take 3 tests on one day
  • Take right after completing the class

Where Should I Apply?
  • Be Realistic!
  • IU Bloomington Fall 2008 Freshman Class
  • Average SAT score 1211 (CR, Math)
  • Average ACT score 26 (composite)
  • Average GPA 3.6 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be in top 40 of your senior class
  • Estimate that 34,000 will apply in 2009 and only
    6,900 will be admitted

College Visits
  • Seniors are allowed 2 college visit days for
    excused absences
  • Must pick up a College Visit form from the front
    office and have it signed by teachers prior to
    the visit day. (see handout)
  • Research the college/university prior to arriving
  • Have a list of Qs to ask

College Visits
  • Visit the library, dining halls, dorms, student
    union, rec center
  • Go to a sporting event
  • Drive by off-campus housing and local haunts
  • Ask about campus safety
  • Meet with a financial aid and admissions
    representative

Career Shadow
  • Seniors are allowed one career shadow day for an
    excused absence
  • Pick up a form in the front office
  • Same process as the college visit form
  • Have Qs ready to ask your mentor
  • Great way to see day-to-day responsibilities in
    the field that interests you

Transcripts
  • Colleges request official student transcripts
  • Print out Counselor Signature Form
  • Write your name on it!
  • Fill out the student section
  • Provide an extra blank copy
  • Provide an addressed, stamped, large envelope for
    faster processing
  • Hand to Ms. Lowe
  • Allow 2 weeks to be mailed

WHEN You Are Accepted
  • Congratulations!
  • Tell Ms. Lowe so it can be included in your file
  • Also tell Ms. Lowe about financial aid, awards or
    scholarships offered
