BRAC Changes at Fort Bragg and Pope AFB
  • Ft. Bragg is already the largest Army post in the
    country
  • Growing to more than 80,000 soldiers and
    employees.
  • Includes BRAC actions, Army Transformation, and
    Grow the Army initiatives.
  • U.S. Army Forces Command and Army Reserve Command
    Headquarters transfer from Atlanta in 2011.
  • Pope AFB transfers to the Army in 2011.
  • 440th Reserve Airlift Wing has relocated from
    Milwaukee to Pope AFB.

  • Define and establish a Defense Homeland
    Security (DHS) Industry in North Carolina
  • Create partnerships and alliances between
    industry, universities and DOD programs.
  • Promote and market the All American Defense
    Corridor to attract, build and expand companies
    in the region to create new high tech jobs
  • Establish a North Carolina Center for Defense
    Homeland Security (DHS) as a Statewide Authority
    for assessing, coordinating and connecting DHS
    programs with North Carolina strengths

Cost of education for teachers, administration
and operating costs is approximately 7600 per
pupil per year259 million is needed for the
total cumulative regional cost of education over
five years for the 6,674 students related to
mission growth at Ft Bragg

  • Invested 0.5M in the establishment of the
  • Advanced Visualization and Interactive Digital
    Center

  • in the Virtual College Center at FTCC

Workforce Demonstration Program
  • Establishing an i3D Center of Excellence at FTCC
    in partnership with the BRAC RTF
  • State of the art capabilities education and
    training
  • Virtual network with i3D classrooms to link K-12,
    CCs and Universities with Industry Partners
  • Used US DOL funds to purchase i3D classrooms for
    our 8 Community Colleges
  • Golden Leaf funding received for 11 classrooms
    for pilot programs in one high school in each of
    our 11 counties
