Why am I here?

• I am an educator
• I am an Information Systems Educator
• I teach students
• I need to keep up with technology, with
  curriculum, with trends and help students get
  that first job!!!

What else I do

• I help students reach their goals
• I help them to work towards the American Dream
  
• That is a house mortgage, car payments, student
  loan payments, braces on kids teeth, credit card
  debt ?

I am excited about

• The Information Systems academic field
• The IS 2002 model curriculum
• Solid advances in attempts at IS assessment
• IS accreditation
• The curriculum development effort as a CMM
  process defined, repeatable, managed and
  optimized!!!

I am anxious about

• Keeping up with this rapidly changing field
• Finding jobs for my students (in a sluggish
  economy and global outsourcing)

Pretending to keep up with this rapidly changing
field (that is one of the reasons I need
ISECON!!!)

More on ISECON

• I need to hear from my peers and colleagues I
  need to hear what they are doing to be EFFECTIVE
  and EXCELLENT teachers in the college IS
  classroom
• and I need to get away for a couple of days to
  get excited and refreshed!!!

My ISECON history

• My first ISECON was 1990 in Chicago.
• I knew nobody and felt out-of-place
• I decided I needed to get involved!!! ( and I
  did now chairing my third ISECON conference,
  served on EDSIG board and more)
