The Changi Chapel MuseumWhats New
  • A comprehensive section on Pre-war Changi as well
as an interactive LCD display that tells about
the invasion of Singapore. NEW! Zone 1
  • A new section on Changi Prison, showcasing
original artefacts including an original prison
cell door, a piece of the prison boundary wall
and chapel pews. NEW! Zone 2
  • 2. The replica of the Changi Murals depicting
biblical scenes has been upgraded to mirror more
closely the actual room in Block 151 of Roberts
Barracks. These murals were instrumental in
uplifting the morale of many POWs. The original
Changi Murals still stand but because access is
restricted, we hope to recreate the experience
for a larger audience who can then be able to
appreciate and be inspired by the works of their
painter, POW Stanley Warren. ENHANCED! Zone 3

The Changi Chapel MuseumWhats New
  • 3. The extreme conditions of war often served as
sources of inspiration for artists. Some painted
and drew to occupy their minds so as to escape
the harsh realities of captivity, while others
wanted their art to serve as a record of the
brutalities of war. Their work is historically
    significant especially since photographs on
captivity are rare. Some of these works are
featured in the enhanced Wartime Artist section
which showcase artists such as Angela Bateman
(NEW ORIGINAL), William Haxworth, Liu Kang, and
    Harold Young. ENHANCED! Zone 4
  • 4. A new section entitled "We Remember
highlights more stories on local war heroes and
heroines from the Singapore Volunteer Corps,
Malay Regiment and Force 136, as well as
civilians who, like angels, helped to alleviate
the suffering of POWs in the war years. These
angels include people like Mary Seah and
    Elizabeth Choy. NEW! Zone 5
