they have recently funded and for how much use
this information when doing your bid

    want and the amount
  • make sure you meet their criteria they usually
    publish this for you!

8
  • So what would the Ralph and Irma Sperring
    Charity want from you?
  • a good application which clearly expresses what
your club wants and is fully complete (note 75
of bids to the lottery Awards for All are
    incomplete)
  • a bid that meets their funding wishes, is
affordable to them, and will not involve them in
    too much work

board who can engage and excite the funder
  • make sure you know all their requirements
  • if they ask for a report, provide it on time
  • thank them afterwards for the grant

11
Homework, homework, homework
  • If targeting local sponsors/businesses, make sure
you know whether they have funded your club
before, or given funds in your village or if they
    have giving rules
  • most businesses will give money but have they
    been asked too frequently?
  • it helps if you can develop empathy with them
offer something that will benefit them as well

12
  • Thank you for listening, get going and good luck
with your bids to local funders
  • (actually not good luck because fundraising
    through applications is a science)
