4Purpose of Prevention Grants
- Provide limited funds to support community plans
toward reducing alcohol and other substance abuse - Focuses on reducing risk and increasing
resiliency or protective factors
5Funding Source
- Community portion of Federal Safe and Drug Free
Schools and Communities Program, part of the No
Child Left Behind Act - Consult your Prevention Specialist or ACT
Missouri for further information regarding the
Safe and Drug Free Schools Guidelines
6Funding Cycle
- October 1, 2004 September 30, 2005
- Awardees will be receive funds on October 1, 2004
provided necessary paperwork is complete - All projects must be completed by September 30,
2005
7Eligibility
- Applications may be submitted by any coalition
registered and in good standing with the Division
of Alcohol and Drug Abuse - To obtain an application from the ADA, please
call 573/751-4942
8Application Due Date
- Applications must be received by

- NO LATER THAN
- 500 p.m. on
- JUNE 1, 2004
9Application Submission
- The original plus 5 copies, including all
attachments - Each submission MUST include items noted on page
6 of the application - Application must be type written in type no
smaller than 11 point with 1 margins and must be
double-spaced
10Consortium Grants
- A consortium of coalitions may submit an
application, provided all parties are registered
and in good standing with the Division of Alcohol
and Drug Abuse - Funding limits may not exceed the maximum in any
category

- Coalition may apply for both an individual grant
AND a consortium grant - Each must application must stand on its own
- Two applications CANNOT depend on one another
- ONE individual application per coalition

- Each application will be reviewed by no less
than three reviewers - Applicants will receive feedback and technical
assistance from the grant review committee - Applications will be scored competitively against
communities of like population in each funding
category

- Technical merit scores of up to 50 points will
be scored as follows - Abstract 5 points
- Coalition History/Capacity 5 points
- Project Description 10 points
- Plan/Logic Model 20 points
