• Our Proposed Outcomes
• Students will develop skills in Information
  Literacy by using the Internet to demonstrate
  their work to their parents and peers
• Students motivation to develop literacy and IT
  skills will be enhanced
• Students will develop skills in English genre by
  creating web pages for an authentic audience
• Students will develop increased skills and
  understandings within the Essential Learnings and
  Key Competencies of the SACSA Framework,
  particularly Thinking, Communication, Organising
  Information, Communicating Ideas and Using
  Technology.

  uploading files to the On-Line Intranet
• Students will have skills in web publishing and
  uploading files to the On-Line Intranet
• Parents understanding of, and involvement in
  their childs learning will be increased
• Parents will have a greater understanding of the
  classroom curriculum and therefore be involved at
  a higher level
• Reporting to parents of student literacy
  development will be regular and effective

• Essential requirements
• Web publishing skills
• An understanding of web structure and using
  images in web pages
• Parent permission for photos
• Skills in copying and pasting
• Skills in file management, eg renaming, folders
• Skills in naming files correctly for the Internet

• Our process
• Start early in the year
• Have students create a web in FrontPage
• Create templates for useful pages in FrontPage
• Collect photos and store them in a network folder
  available to all. Rename in lowercase
• Teach students how to copy and paste photos into
  the images folder of their web

• Teach student show to create an index page for
  their web using the template.
• Teach inserting images from the Images folder
• Teach resizing images
• Create a My Friends page using the template
• Teach linking the index page to my_friends.htm
  and back

• Uploading
• Each student must have their own SINA username
  and password. No surnames helps with privacy
• Enable Personal Homepage (SINA Administrator)
• Ensure disk quota provides sufficient space
• Students Click on Page uploader on their
  MyInternet page

• Teach students how to create folders which are an
  exact replica of their web
• Upload files to folders
• The My Home page link on the MyInternet page will
  then open the students index.htm
