Programme Consists of
  • 18 x two hour sessions
  • Introduction, farewell, eight behavioural and
    eight
  • nutritional/diet sessions each followed
  • by an exercise session.
  • Usually 9-10 weeks at a leisure centre, twice a
    week.
  • Each session includes an hour of family based
    learning focusing on mind, diet and nutrition
    techniques and an hour exercise for the children.

What is Alive n Kicking?
  • Alive n Kicking is a nutrition physical
    activity programme designed to help children keep
    well and healthy.
  • As a child there are lots of things you can do to
    help you become more healthy.
  • Alive n Kicking will give you tips and
    advice on how to eat better and become
    more active

The aim of the programme
  • The aim of the programme is for behaviour change.
    The school nurse regularly reviews the children
    on a 11 basis and with them and their family
    sets goals to change food and activity habits
    Children are then rewarded through a system of
    points and prizes
  • On the remaining weeks a health information
    session is conducted for the children, the
    parents and both together. These cover food diet,
    self-esteem, physical activity and a celebration
    cook and eat activity
  • It is organised into 7-8 week blocks and is based
    in a leisure centre activity.
