you help?    
1) Reading closely typed texts.
Try   a)      Enlarging the worksheet before it
is needed in class b)      Dividing the work up
with plenty of headings, diagrams etc. c)     
Summarising key points d)      Allowing the
student to highlight key phrases, sections
etc. e)      Paired reading let another student
read through the sheet
with the SLD student

2) Copying from the whiteboard or dictation
Try     a)      Giving the student notes to
copy from b)      Having a sheet which the
student can keep c)      Allowing the student to
photocopy someone elses notes       3)
Spelling.. Try     a)      Giving them
keywords to fill in their planner spelling pages
or learn in advance b)      Visual displays
wallcharts of key words c)      Subject specific
vocabulary to stick in their books d)      Ignore
spelling as far as possible when marking
work e)      Use an ACE spelling dictionary if
available

4) Short term memory problems.Try
  a)      To repeat instructions (possibly
individually) b)      Writing instructions or key
points on the OHP or whiteboard c)      Stop Look

   Ensuring that homework instructions are

their work, especially if it involves extended

INTELLIGENCES APPROACH Useful for all pupils
but particularly useful for students with
SLD. READ the work visual channel REDUCE it
thinking skills (mind map highlight key words
invent mnemonics rhymes acronyms word
associations use coloured pens or arrows to link
ideas list key facts and number them) WRITE it
kinaesthetic channel SAY it auditory CHECK
it thinking channel again
