Whats Happening With our Workforce?
  • Weve heard it before that by 2010
  • 168,000,000 new jobs
  • 158,000,000 workers to fill them.
  • 60 of jobs will require skills held by 20 of
    the workforce.
  • 27 employers report difficulty filling open
    positions (June 2003 Survey)
  • Our workforce is aging.

    2011 if average economy over next 5 6 years
  • Severe labor shortage (similar to 99 and 2000)

  • The Minnesota Business Leadership Network
    (MNBLN) is an employer-led endeavor that promotes
    best employment practices and enhances
    competitive employment opportunities for skilled
    candidates with disabilities.

History
  • August 24, 2000 - Launch of MNBLN with an
    executive breakfast hosted by Northwest Airlines.
  • Northwest Airlines served as the first lead
    employer.
  • 2005 Medtronic became the second lead employer.
  • 8 founding members of the MNBLN Steering
    Committee.

Accomplishments
  • Partnered with Goodwill Easter Seals in the
    development of Customer Service Training.
  • Delivered a variety of trainings to business
    members, providers and the community.
  • Held National Mentoring Day Event
  • Grew the membership to include a network of
    community based employment services providers.
  • Established itself as an autonomous 501C3
    organization.
  • Aligned as a Chapter of the USBLN.
