• Free, Open Source IDE
• And MORE
• Available on many platforms Linux (SLES 9/GNOME
  KDE, Redhat), UNIX (Solaris/CDE), Windows
  (2000, XP), Macs,
• Intended as a competitor to Visual Studio
• Interest in Eclipse is growing

What is the Proposal?

• Add three views to the Eclipse Workbench IDE
  Data Editor, Graphics Display, and Statistics
• Use the Eclipse Workbench IDE for development
• Distribute as an Eclipse installable feature
  (plug-in)
• Provide user documentation commensurate with
  Eclipse Help facilities

• Analysis of data is an important task in software
  tools support
• Analysis of data is an important task in much of
  engineering
• Toolkit will also be useful in academic setting
  as well

• Workbench the whole thing
• View sub-window in the workbench
• Perspective predefined collection and layout of
  views and functionality
• Features collections of plug-ins
• Workspace location of project sources (project
  files can reside outside workspace)

Data Editor View

• Spread sheet layout and behavior
• Load data from a (properly formatted) text files
• Save data in a (properly formatted) text files
• Generate data from a (uniform) distribution

• Use column or row selection in data editor view
• Plots frequency distribution, time series,
  bar/pie chart (categorical data)
• Display linear regression and scatter plot
• Annotate plots axes, title
• Save plots in an appropriate graphical/image
  format

• Java programming design experience
