• Our original objective
• To find a way in which different soft proofing
  devices/solutions could be able to work together
  
• Interoperability!

How did we propose to do this?

• By getting the industry to adopt a method of
  attaching data fields to a file so that anybody
  receiving that file could determine certain basic
  facts about its origin

The fields we proposed

• Some details about the originator
  name/phone/email etc.
• Was the file approved yes or no?
• Which soft proofing system was used to approve
  the file vendor and make
• Was it calibrated
• The output intent
• Time and date

How to attach?

• After some debate, XMP was agreed upon as our
  carrier of choice

Rigorous cross industry debate

• With the Ghent Work Group pursuing a similar idea
  to ours, it was decided to join forces with them
  to ensure that the idea was adopted more widely
  (different countries) and more swiftly

GWGs additional requirements most of which are
optional

• List of approval tickets its history
• Any historical output data
• Simulation condition identifier (yes, I dont
  know what this means either?)
• User login
• User platform
• Device luminance/temperature/ID
• Number of screens used

TRUE ELEGANCE

• The true elegance of what is proposed is that we
  now have something for everyone simplicity at
  the point of contact (8 fields) and a depth of
  optional fields should your own special workflow
  requirements demand something more rigorous
