Skills for Working Life
  • Edexcel Entry Level BTEC Certificate in Skills
    for Working Life (Core Units Entry 1, 2, 3)
  • To achieve the qualification the learner must
    successfully complete six units.
  • Each pathway consists of
  • A Compulsory Unit Health and Safety
  • Two units from a core of eight, these units are
    common to the qualification and must be delivered
    in the context of the pathway being studied
  • Three specialist units from the chosen pathway or
    two specialist units from the chosen pathway and
    one option unit

Skills for Working Life
  • The learner can be registered either for the
    whole certificate, or for individual units from
    anywhere in the qualification. The units can be
    individually certificated.
  • Each unit comprises of 30 guide learning hours
    (180 guide learning hours in total)
  • All units are at three Entry Levels of Entry 1,
    Entry 2 and Entry 3.
  • Unit achievement will be pass or not yet
    achieved
  • 2 Tutors and 1 Learning Support Mentor, 1
    Employment Support Worker.

  • People who experience enduring mental health
    needs
  • Active Care Programme Approach (CPA) care plan
    that indicates a need for education and/or
    employment
  • Referral to Vocational Services via
  • Social Worker
  • Community Psychiatric Nurse
  • Psychiatric Consultant / Doctor
  • Occupational Therapist

Work Placements
  • 12 Work placements with various local, national
    and statutory organisations and businesses
  • Jobcentre Plus (Benefits Agency) aware of
    placements to protect learners benefit
    entitlement
  • Travel Allowances and PPE paid for by SCMHP VS
  • Employment Link Worker and Employment Support
    Worker in addition to work place mentor
  • 4 week assessment period for learner and
    placement provider
  • Work placement not necessarily time limited
  • Work placement assessments / observations count
    towards guided learning hours

Employability Training Programme
  • Aims
  • To enhance personal self-development to enable
    individuals to engage in a short programme on
    non-accredited learning
  • Create an environment conducive to learner needs
    by offering additional support and an individual
    flexible learning plan
  • Objectives

    personal development
  • Increased awareness of other areas of learning,
    including progression routes and higher level
    qualifications
