Birth
  • Born at Atium on 15 December CE 37
  • Raised by mother, Agrippina the Younger
  • Father died at age three
  • Birth name was Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus
  • Brought up in Rome in poverty.

Early Life
  • 50 CE Neros mom convinces Claudius to adopt Nero
    as his own son
  • After this took place, his name became Nero
    Claudius Drusus Germanicus
  • Nero named heir-apparent by Claudius (bad choice)
  • CE 54 Nero becomes first Roman Emperor under the
    age of 17.

Rise to power
  • In the year 54, Claudius was poisoned by
    Agrippina and Nero became Emperor and ruled until
    68
  • Nero cleverly geoton the good side of the Senate
    in the beginning
  • Nero poisoned Britannicus Claudius son, to
    prevent competition

Fire In Rome
  • In 64, a great fire ravaged Rome.
  • Rumor says that Nero played his fiddle while Rome
    burned down
  • Though rumor wasnt true, people must have really
    hated Nero to start such an awful rumor
  • The fire totally destroyed Rome, and all Nero did
    was sit there, reciting poems.

  • Nero looked for scapegoats to blame the fire on,
    and he chose Christians
  • He would arrest Christians and throw them to the
    wild beasts
  • Many were crucified
  • Many where burned to death as night and used as
    lighting in Neros gardens
  • Nero had 400 slaves of Pedanius household put
    to death after he found out one had murdered
    Pedanius

    secretary on 9 June CE 68

Why Nero Is the Hero (of destruction)
  • Nero should be voted most destructive because he
    pretty much destroyed Rome. Nero has done
    so0o0o0o0o much to destroy Rome. Nero has every
    right to win in the category of destruction as
    anyone else, actually he has more right so,
    everyone should vote for Nero.
