1This is the initial screen that will open when
you start a new project in RsLogix 500. From
this screen you select the processor that you
will be using and give it a node address. Node 1
will be used in this example. Now left click on
the OK box.
2After the processor has been selected and you
have left clicked on OK, this will be the next
screen that you will see. Now you should left
click on the IO Configuration icon. This is
where you will enter the rack size and the layout
of the rack. See the next screen.
3After you have selected the IO Configuration
icon, this will be the next screen that you will
see. On this screen you will select the rack
size and configuration of the rack (I/O card
Placement). When the configuration has been
completed, left click on the X to close the
configuration box.
4Now put the cursor over the - - icon then,
holding down on the left mouse button, drag the
- - instruction down to the first rung of logic
until the left box turns green. When the left
box turns green, release the left mouse button.
You have just entered the first instruction,
conditional logic element, in the program.
5After you have entered the remaining logic for
the first rung, you must now enter an address for
each instruction. This is done by left double
clicking on the Input and Output icons under
Data Files to open the dialog box. Once the
box is open, place the cursor over the address
you wish to select then press and hold the left
mouse button to drag the address to a point just
above the instruction until the box to the right
of it turns green then release.
6Do this for the remaining logic elements. When
the rung has been completely addressed, it should
look like this
7Now verify your project by left clicking on the
verify project icon. If the program has no
errors the small e to the left of the rung will
go away.
8Now save your project by left clicking on the
word File at the top left corner of the screen
and left click on Save As and give your
program a name.
9Now, left click the Save box and your program
will be saved to the hard drive of the computer
you are using.
10To close the program, left click on the word
File at the top left corner of the screen and
left click on Exit. This will close the
RsLogix 500 program.
