• Pay special attention to page 1315 procedure
  48-2, figure 48-26 through 48-29.
• CD Interactive - Care of Tracheostomy
• View video, take and pass evaluation exam with a
  grade of 100
• Give printed exam with your name to skills lab
  personnel.
• Practice at least 45 minutes.

• for early check-off on Wednesday, April 4, 2007

Check Off Day

• Give printed exam to skills lab personnel
• Bring all needed supplies/papers
• Allotted time for check-off is 30 minutes which
  includes documentation time.

Reasons for a Tracheotomy

• 1. Post Trauma to head or neck
• 2. When there is an upper airway
• obstruction
• 3. To replace a temporary airway
• provided by an endotracheal tube
• that has been in place for more than
• several weeks
