WHO?
  • Fort Sill Apache Tribe
  • Chiricahua Warm Springs Apache
  • One of seven Apachean Tribes related to each
    other in much the same way as European Nations
    are related to one another.
  • Last Tribe held as Prisoners of War by the United
    States government
  • April 1913, 186 people were released and went to
    join the Mescalero Apaches and 86 remained in
    Oklahoma.

WHO?
  • Allotments were bought by the government using
    money from the very successful cattle and hay
    business the FSA had developed to buy land from
    deceased Comanche, Kiowa, and Kiowa-Apaches.
  • Considered to be dangerous people no land
    purchases were within 5 miles of each other.
  • Generations of people were born in captivity.
  • The last FSA person from this era died last year.
