  • Presented By

2
Topics
  • Connectivity for Disaster Recovery Purposes
  • PAM - Kansas City Regional Operations Center
(KROC) as Primary Payment Processing Site
  • Decommissioning of Hyattsville Regional
    Operations Center (HROC).

3
Currently
  • Majority of payment processing is done on the
HROC platform (with the exception of SSA/SSI
Monthly payments which process on KROC).
  • Customer agencies transmitting bulk files have a
dedicated line or Frame Relay connection to HROC.
  • Several customer agencies have dedicated lines or
Frame Relay connections to both HROC and KROC
    (for contingency).

Whats Coming
  • PAM will process all payments on KROC.
Processing will be implemented in releases
    between 2007 and 2009.
  • HROC is being decommissioned Sept 2009.
  • KROC will be the primary processing site.
  • Bureau of Public Debt (BPD) will become the
    contingency processing site.

6
Preferred Connectivity Method
  • The Preferred method of implementation is IP over
Sprints MPLS Private Internet Protocol (PIP).
  • Note Sprint is discontinuing Frame Relay.
  • This method provides connectivity to HROC and
KROC now and KROC and BPD in the future.

Benefits of MPLS
  • Reduces Network Connections
  • Only requires one line from the agency to Sprint.
  • Better Contingency Management
  • Connectivity to the contingency site eliminates
the need for cartridge or CD use if the primary
    site is down.
  • Switchover in a contingency is transparent to the
    Agency

9
Next Steps

    connectivity
  • KFC has contacted each Agency that transmits Bulk
    Files
  • FMS Network Engineering
  • Assist Agencies with questions and planning
  • Provides a connectivity guide as a reference
    (included)
  • Will provide a customized network proposal.
  • Please identify yourself as a KFC customer.
