  • If a student uses a Large Print or Braille test
    book, or has keyboarded his/her responses, school
    staff must transcribe verbatim the students
    responses into a standard test book/answer
    booklet.
  • Test books/answer booklets must bear the
    signature(s) of the transcriber(s) and the
    transcription date on the inside front cover.
  • Its NOT permissible to insert, adhere, staple,
    or clip a keyboarded response into a test
    book/answer booklet.

    students.

  • Two sets of precode labels are produced for
    students in grades 3 and 4. One should be placed
    on the reading test book, and the other should be
    placed on the writing/mathematics test book.
  • Two sets of precode labels will be produced for
    students taking the grade 10 SBA. One should be
    placed on the reading test book and the other
    should be placed on the writing/mathematics test
    book.

  • For grades 3, 4, 10, if a precode label is used
    on one test book and a district/school label is
    used on the other, the student-identifying
    information must be bubbled exactly as printed on
    the precode label.
  • If district/school labels are used on both books,
    the student-identifying information must be
    bubbled exactly the same way on both books.

book/answer booklet in the box containing the
words ATTENTION Apply label here. Be sure to
use only SBA labels on SBA materials, Science SBA
labels on Science SBA materials, HSGQE labels
on HSGQE materials.

  • White Precode labels are produced for each
    student who appears in DRCs Online Precode
    System at 500 PM Alaska time on January 22,
    2008.
  • Each Assessment is identified on the precode
    label.
  • If a precode label is used, the bubbles on the
    front cover of the test book/answer booklet
    should not be filled in.

    hours per day for most students.

  • Suggested Session Schedule for RWM SBAs
  • Grades 3 4 Take a 5-10 minute break after 40
    minutes of testing.
  • Grades 5-9 Take a 5-10 minute break after 60
    minutes of testing.

  • Take a 2 minute stretch break after the first 60
    minutes of testing.
  • Take a 10-15 minute break after the next 60
    minutes of testing.

SBA Scheduling Parameters

  • Each district MUST designate district-wide test
    days.
  • Districts must communicate to their schools which
    days they will be administering the SBAs by grade
    and content area.
  • Districts must follow the designated test order
    reading (first), writing (second), mathematics
    (last).
  • The Science SBA shall be administered to students
    in grades 4, 8, and 10 after reading, writing,
    and mathematics SBAs are completed.

SBA Scheduling Parameters

  • Districts are NOT required to set the testing
    schedule on consecutive days during the test
    window.
  • Students who are not able to take the SBAs on the
    districts designated test days may take the SBAs
    on any of the days that follow within the test
    window.
  • No SBA may be administered prior to March 31 or
    after April 14, 2008 including any accommodated
    testing for students with disabilities.

  • Schools must administer the exams as follows
  • Reading on April 1
  • Writing on April 2
  • Mathematics on April 3
  • Regulation does not permit variations on this
    schedule.

  • After testing is complete, check students test
    books/answer booklets and ensure the following
  • A precode label or district/school labels IS
    APPLIED TO ALL TEST BOOKS THAT ARE TO BE SCORED.
  • The Teachers Use Only field is filled in with
    any code(s) applicable to the student.
  • You must consult your DTC before invalidating any
    test.
  • You must consult your DTC before filling in the
    Modified bubble.

  • Inventory the materials and record the
    information on the School Security Checklists or
    SBA Classroom Site Secure Materials Inventory
    List (RWM SBA (grades 3-9) and Science SBA
    (grades 4, 8, 10) only).
  • Make two copies. Forward one copy to your DTC and
    place the other copy in box 1 of materials being
    returned to DRC.
  • Return all boxes to your DTC.
