Why Reduce The Drinking Age?

• The drinking laws in there U.S today are
  counter-productive. There is much evidence that
  reducing the drinking age to 18 would reduce the
  abuse of alcohol among young people.
• Convincing scientific evidence supports the fact
  that the early introduction of drinking is the
  safest way to reduce juvenile alcohol abuse.
  Young people in France, Spain, and Argentina
  rarely abuse alcohol.

Supporting Evidence!!

• There are no minimum drinking age requirements in
  Portugal and New Zealand. In Belgium, most of
  Canada, Italy, and Spain, adolescents as young as
  16 can drink as long as they are accompanied by
  an adult. Australia and South Africa have an
  18-year minimum.
• Instead of focusing on the drinking age we should
  instead focus on educating our youth about
  responsible drinking and the dangers of drunk
  driving . Because most of them are going to drink
  anyway

Why 18?

• The drinking age should be lowered because 18 is
  the age of maturity.
• And more importantly, it is an age when most
  young adults still live with their parents.
• At 21, most people are not living with their
  families, leaving mothers and fathers with no
  control over how their children get to know
  alcohol.

Who Should Drink?

• Another reason to reduce the minimum drinking age
  is because of our troops in the military.
• Many troops in the military are 18 and 19 years
  old.
• I believe that if you are old enough to fight and
  die at war, you are certainly old enough to
  drink.
