  • What is it?

Sci 59
  • An online psychometric tool
  • Designed by the Open University
  • Based on a 130 item questionnaire
  • Outcome- Specialties most suited to respondent
    clustered around 12 dimensions

How does it work?
  • Questions start with I want to work in a
    specialty where followed by a skill,
    attribute, attitude or behaviour.
  • Answer with 4 point scale from strongly agree to
    strongly disagree. Can skip.

How developed?
  • Based on interviews with 60 consultants to elicit
    characteristics of jobs and attributes of
    successful and unsuccessful trainees.
  • Further 350 consultants were then asked to rate
    the resulting 80 attributes for importance to
    their specialty add anything new.
  • Further factor analysis, discriminant function
    analysis so on.
  • Questions tested on 500 SHOs.
