Title: Woodchuck

1
Woodchuck
  • The woodchuck can be found in Pennsylvania and is
    also called the groundhog.

2
Traits
  • The woodchucks fur is a yellowish brown color.
It is from 20 to 26 inches long including a
bristly 6 inch tail. This animal is also a warm
    blooded vertebrate.

3
Adaptations
  • A body part that helps a woodchuck get food is
its claws. It eats plants such as grasses,
clover, alfalfa, apples, beans and a few other
things like that. A body covering that helps it
survive is its yellowish brown fur to help it
    hide in the woods.

4
An interesting fact
  • The woodchuck likes to live near farmlands and
digs burrows in the fields. When the woodchuck
moves out of its hole, smaller animals like
field mice and moles can move in.

5
Taking care of its young
  • Baby woodchucks are born in April or in early
May. Litters are about 3 to 4 woodchucks. They
are blind when born. They stay in their nests
for about one month and are ready to go out on
their own in mid June or early July.

6
My opinion
  • I thought this animal was interesting because of
where it lives and the different foods it eats.
