Title: Heroes In My Family

Heroes In My Family
  • Aaron

2
Introduction
  • I feel a hero is a person who is willing to make
a difference in others lives by doing whatever
    it takes to help out.
  • A hero must be brave, intelligent, unselfish,
    hard working, and loving.
  • The word hero brings many different people to my
mind. I think of policemen, firefighters, war
veterans, mothers, and grandfathers. Overall, I
feel a hero is a positive role model to look up
    to.

3
What you will see...
  • In this slideshow, I will be discussing the
    topic of heroism. I have
  • chosen two pictures of special people in my
family who I feel best fit
  • the role of hero. These heroes are my
    grandfather, Reginald, and my
  • mother, Cheryl.

4
My Grandfather 1955
  • Reginald
  • My grandfather served in the U.S. Navy from 1954
    to 1958.
  • He built air strips while in the navy.
  • In 1960 he became a firefighter.
  • He was a firefighter for eleven years.

5
  • From my interview, I learned that my grandfather
    made many important
  • decisions as a hero. My grandfather chose to
make a difference in others lives.
  • This decision led him to join the navy and
    become a firefighter. He told
  • me that he wanted to set out to accomplish
    something for which he
  • would be remembered this proves that he was
    determined. My grandfather
  • always put others before himself.
  • He once did the jobs of three men so that they
    could recover from illness. This
  • was an act of kindness and hard work. My
    grandfather was always ready to
  • serve his country this exemplifies bravery.
He felt that he could get any job
  • done. From the information I have gathered I
    have concluded that my
  • grandfather is a real hero.

6
  • The heroic traits of my grandfather are
  • Bravery
  • Determination
  • Kindness
  • Loyalty
  • Hard working person

7
My Mom 1994
  • Cheryl
  • She had her first child in 1989.
  • She helped take care of my grandmother
  • who had cancer.
  • My mother worked three jobs at once in
  • 1997.
  • She taught my brother and I how to
  • ski in 1998.

8
  • From my interview, I learned that my mother is a
    loving type of hero.
  • She always puts others ahead of herself.
  • My mother once chose to give up her job so that
she could spend more time with
  • my brother and I. My mom told me that she did
    everything she could do to
  • raise a good family, which is a great amount of
    hard work.
  • I learned that she always tries to be a
positive role model. She also feels
  • confident about her ability as a hero. From
what I have learned, my mother
  • will undertake any risks to help out this is a
    sign of a hero.

9
  • The heroic traits of my mother are
  • Loving person
  • Self-confidence
  • Protective mom
  • Hard worker

Quote
  • In peace, Love tunes the shepherds reed
  • In war, he wants the warriors steed
  • In halls, in gay attire is seen
  • In hamlets dances on the green.
  • Love rules the court, the camp, the grove,
  • And men below and saints above
  • Love is heaven, and heaven is love.
  • Title The Lay of the Last Minstrel
  • Author Sir William Scott
  • Written in 1805
  • I chose this quote because I feel
  • that both my grandfather and my
  • mom are loving heroes. They
  • will always help those in need. I
  • feel that all heroes must be caring.
  • This quote best explains the
  • importance of love to my heroes
  • and I.

Conclusion
  • Overall, this presentation has explained what I
think a hero is and who
  • the heroes are in my family. A hero is a
person who will do most anything to
  • make a difference in others lives for the
better good. My grandfather and my
  • mother have made many differences in my life.
    My two heroes are very
  • hard working, loving, and self-confident.
This slideshow has helped me better
  • understand what makes up a real hero.
  • My grandfather and mother have been positive
role models in my life. I have
  • enjoyed talking to these family members and
    learning about their heroic lives.
  • I suggest that you too, try to learn about
heroes in your family. I also suggest
  • that you ask yourself if you fit the role of
a hero. I bet you will be surprised at
  • what you find out.
