Company History
  • GLYN GmbH was founded in 1980 in Germany and is

  • This success is based on a high degree of
    customer satisfaction and retention, high
    value-added technical support, the long-term
nature of the companys project business, and an
increased market presence. The major investments
in design-in products are now paying off in solid
customer relationships and a low dependency on
    commodity articles.
  • GLYN Ltd (Australia New Zealand) is a sister

Aust NZ GPS Receiver Market
  • GPS RECEIVER MARKET
  • World market for telematics estimated today at
USD 5 billion, according to one of the largest
telematics companies in the world (Thales
    Telematics UK)
  • Telematics is main target market segment for GPS
    receivers in Aust and NZ
  • Key GPS applications include in-car navigation,
    marine navigation, fleet management, asset
tracking, traffic control system, and remote
    sensing.
  • SiRF VAM Navman is headquartered in Christchurch,
NZ. Navman supplies SiRF GPS receiver modules
aside from its in-car, personal and marine GPS
    navigation products.
  • Major car makers (Holden, Ford, Mitsubishi,
Toyota) and automotive support companies (Bosch,
Australian Arrow/Yazaki, etc) located mainly in
    Victoria and South Australia.
  • The National Telematics Industry Initiative in
Australia, commencing in early 2004 with 2
million funding, was established to help
accelerate telematics segment growth by fostering
telematics industry clusters in various States.
Australian telematics value chain now in excess
    of 400 companies.
  • Abundant presence of highly capable and
innovative design houses in Aust and NZ doing own
as well as contract GPS application designs for
    local and overseas companies
  • GLYNS GPS RECEIVER INVOLVEMENT
  • Currenty selling Telit GSM/GPRS/GPS modules and
Fastrax GPS Receiver modules, with both products
    using SiRF GPS chipsets
  • New Fastrax iTrax300 series uses SiRFStarIII GSC3
and GSC3-LP chipsets. However most of our new
design wins have been achieved with the Telit
GE863-GPS module which includes the SiRFStarIII
    LP chipset.
  • Fastrax uPatch100 and iTrax02, 03 Most of our
successful design-ins to date are with combined
active GPS antenna GPS receiver combinations
    like the uPatch series.
  • COMPETITION
  • As far as Australia goes the majority of GPS
designs are using the U-Blox LEA 4T chipset.
Customers we have tried to convert in the past
have evaluated the Fastrax uNav or Sony CXD2951
only to find them inferior in performance
primarily due to position drift or lack of
    optimization capabilities.

14
Competitive Strategies for SiRF in Australia and
NZ market
  • Position SiRF as the most technologically
advanced GPS receiver chipset today among OEM
    telematics target customers through various
    marketing channels including direct marketing
  • Evaluate possibility of promoting SiRF GPS
modules from recommended SiRF VAMs to capture
    greater market share
  • Focus on major telematics OEMs and design houses
handling GPS applications for local and foreign
    clients
  • Further develop internal capability to
technically support SiRF GPS chipsets and modules
    by participating in SiRF-sponsored technical
    training
  • Coordinate interactive customer training with
SiRF via online methods such as webcasting
  • Organise joint SiRF-GLYN customer visits to
promote SiRF products to major target customers
    in Aust and NZ
  • Develop application materials, FAQs, and
technical knowledgebase for SiRF products to
assist customers in their product development
  • Assist SiRF in developing A-GPS and Location
Based Services business with various institutions

15
Future Plans
  • Internal sales/logistics person for NZ office to
    commence Dec 06

from Auckland warehouse) to further reduce
product delivery lead time to Australian
    customers April 2007
