Title: The Quokka We are wondering what makes the quokka unique?
1The Quokka We are wondering what makes the
quokka unique?
2Where can we find this unusual animal?
Quokkas live on an island called Rottenest Island
southwest of Australia. Some Quokka live in wet
woods too. They love warm temperature. They are
nocturnal so you have to look for them at night.
Some even live in the Swan Coastal Plain in Perth
and Pinyin around swamps and streams!
3What does the Quokka look like?
Quokkas are small and look like a wallaby or a
kangaroo. They are even bigger than a house cat
NOT a kitten! They have thick gray or brown fur.
They have round bodies and face with small
pointed ears. They also have a short, stiff and
hairless tail. They are marsupials which means
they have a pouch like a kangaroo.
4 What does the Quokka eat? What eats the Quokka?
Quokkas eat leaves. All sorts of leaves! They
even eat strong grass. The babies only drink a
little of mothers milk each day. Quokkas also
drink water too just like they drink milk. They
eat all this food at night like bats do.
5How does the Quokka take care of its babies?
Quokkas live in groups led by a male. Quokkas
have babies, called joeys, just like kangaroos.
Joeys stay in the mothers pouch for 5 months
then in the next 2 months the Joey leaves the
pouch. The babies dont drink too much milk. They
drink about a cup of milk a day. This is quiet
interesting because most mammals drink milk, most
of the day! So it might mean like 19 hours. I
also think Dingoes eat them.
6How does the Quokka communicate?
- I did not find any information about how the
Quokka communicates but I think it makes like a
soft whisper or sounds like nuts cracking or
something like that but Im sure it makes sounds.
Or else it would be weird because every animal
should talk. So Im sure the Quokka makes sounds
just like every animal in Australia.
7What makes the Quokka unique?
- The Quokka is unique because it is one of the
very first mammals in Australia! They also are
unique because they are only found in Australia.
Even because they are nocturnal mammals in
Australia. Also because when they were babies
they drank about a cup of milk each day. Also
because the Joey stays with the mother for
7 months. Which is quite interesting but sad
enough for the family.

9Reflections
- When I worked on my Australian animal report I
learned how to copy and paste my paragraph on to
my Power Point. I also learned about a unique
Australian animal called a Quokka. I learned how
to copy pictures from the Internet into my Power
Point. I even learned how to do a Power Point by
myself. I had a good time doing it by myself.
This is my first Power Point I ever did in my
whole entire life!
