• Veterans Day Remembrance is observed to help
  preserve in the hearts and lives of all our
  citizens, the spirit of patriotism, the love of
  country, and the willingness to serve and
  sacrifice for the common good, symbolized by the
  Veterans who serve.

• Accomplishments
• Assisted a total of 8,269 veterans and family
  members with claims for VA benefits, of this
  total
• Performed Contact and Outreach Services to 4,207
  veterans and family members who are
  non-ambulatory
• Provided client contact services to 4,062
  veterans and family members via our offices in
  Bartow, Lakeland, Lake Wales, Haines City and
  Winter Haven
• Based on client surveys and feedback, for FY
  2007/2008, Veterans Services achieved a 90
  customer satisfaction rate.

• Our Fiscal Impact for FY 2007/2008
• The federal Department of Veterans Affairs
  provided a total of
• 105,666,750 to Polk County veterans and
  families
• Polk County Veterans Services with Florida
  Department of Veterans Affairs facilitated
  16,467,224 million dollars in new unduplicated
  monetary benefits to veterans and their families.
  
• Economic Impact to Polk County is 82M per
  Office of Management and Budget criteria that
  money changes hands five times on the average
  within a County.
• Provided 28,982.00 in tax grant funds under the
  Polk County Active Military Grant Program.
• Reported data by the Department of Veterans
  Affairs and the Florida Department of Veterans
  Affairs
