A Levels/AGCE
  • HE Choice
  • Choosing something that you know you like e.g.
maths, from a subject that you have been doing
    for years.
  • Unlikely to get a job in this specialist area
  • Will have to adapt in all probability to gain
work e.g. Maths Degree to IT Consultant.
  • May have to do a vocational postgraduate course

37
A Levels/AGCE
  • Relationship choice
  • You have been going out for at least two years.
  • You are committing to your current partner for
    the next few years.
  • Not much of an idea of future earning potential
  • Will probably need to change them if the
relationship is going to last long term.

38
Career Idea
  • HE Choice
  • Deciding on a career idea that is linked to
something you are currently studying/have tasted
    through work experience e.g. Dentistry.
  • You are more pragmatic and enjoy learning
    through doing.
  • You are surer about job prospects, and earning
    potential.
  • Beware of Mock Vocational Courses!

39
Career Idea
  • Relationship Choice
  • No mystique about partner, you know what you are
    getting.
  • You are not really so sure if you will love them
because you have not been going out very long.
  • Hopefully should be a good provider
  • Your parents are keen.

40
New Subject
  • HE Choice
  • Not vocational or something that you have studied
    before e.g. anthropology.
  • Again, unlikely to get a job in this field, will
have to adapt to gain employment.
  • Need to research what course really is, mainly
    through reading related material.
  • Could be similar to a previous subject e.g.
    sociology.
  • Parents may need convincing of value.

41
New Subject
  • Relationship choice
  • Could be the equivalent of a blind date or
    holiday romance.
  • You need to be wary, you may be infatuated!
  • Dont rush into things, find out as much about
    them as possible.
  • They may be similar to a previous partner.
  • Friends and family could be concerned.
