13Central Data Centre -Overview
14 Central Data Centre Infrastructure
- The HQ will have state of the art Hardware to
support the application infrastructure for DACNET - The application domains are divided as follows
- Messaging Collaboration
- DACNET Intranet Portal
- Database Infrastructure for various
Line-of-Business applications
15- At the Central Data Centre the Hadware will be -
- Cluster Server - two nos.
- Server - three nos.
- The Software will be -
- Windows advanced 2000 server ( 7 Lic.) OLP
- SQL server Enterprise Edition (2 lic.) OLP
- MS Exchange Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
- Visio 2002 Enterprise Edition
- Biz Talk Server 2001 Enterprise (1 proc. Lic.)
OLP - Commerce Server 2000 (1 proc. Lic.) OLP
- MS SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Enterprise
Edition - Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Architecture
- Trend Micro ( Email antivirus on Win 2k Advanced
Server)
16Messaging Collaboration
- Based on Microsoft Clustering Technologies in
Windows 2000 - Exchange Server 2000 will be hosted in a
clustered environment to provide a highly
available Messaging environment to the entire
DACNET users across India. - Apart from Messaging, a number of workflow
applications based on Exchange 2000 are also
planned - The critical nature of this application requires
the clustering solution for maximum uptime
17DACNET Intranet Portal
- To percolate information across the entire
organisation it is important to have a
organisational portal - Another requirement for this portal is to ensure
that the efforts are directed towards content
generation rather than application generation for
the portal itself - Sharepoint portal server provides a framework to
quickly implement a intranet portal solution - The intranet portal is a critical application and
has therefore been planned on 2 servers, to
achieve high availability
18Database driven Applications
- This is the life line of the entire DACNET
project. - It provides the infrastructure for building the
line of business applications which will be
utilised across all offices. - The solution required has to meet a stringent
criteria of not only being highly reliable but
also have very high performance capabilities - SQL Server 2000 has therefore been deployed in a
clustered environment
19E-Procurement Solution
- It has been planned to host a e-Procurement
solution under the DACNET project to show case
the viability of IT in automating such
transactional process - Commerce Server 2002 Biztalk Server 2002 will
be used to create the E-Procurement
infrastructure.
20BizTalk Server
- Cost effectively integrate applications within
and between organizations - B2BQuickly implement secure, reliable trading
partner relationships over the Internet - Business Process AutomationDefine and implement
integrated business processes using B2B services
21BizTalk Server Delivering on Web Services today

28Overall Directorate View
29Directorate offices
- The Directorate office will have just enough
infrastructure to continue working independently
on key Line of business application even in the
event of connectivity failure - Since the infrastructure is exposed to the
outside world, it was important to provide
firewall protection at the Directorate level.
This protection will also percolate to the Field
unit level which will connect to each of their
respective directorates using a modem
30- At The Directorates, the Hardware will be -
- Server - One Number
- Client Configuration - Five Numbers
- On-Line UPS 2 Kva One Number
- UPS 700 VA Line-Interactive Five Numbers
- LAN ITEMS - one server and five clients need to
be connected in LAN with the provision of LAN
node in each room - Deskjet Five Number
31Directorate offices
- To achieve this minimum requirement the following
infrastructure has been provided - SQL Server 2000
- For maintaining their local copy of database
- To provide a framework for creating a local data
warehouse at a later stage - ISA Server 2000
- For protecting their internal infrastructure
against unauthorised access - For controlling their internal user access to the
outside world - To optimise bandwidth usage by their internal
users
32- At The Directorates, the Software will be -
- Windows 2000 Server OLP (2 lic.) - 1 no.
- SQL Server 2000 standard - 1 no.
- Windows XP 4 nos.
- MS Office XP Enterprise with proofing tools - 5
nos - ISA Server 2000 Standard (1 proc. Lic.) 1 no.
