Advantages

• Designs can be made well in advance of the day
  they are needed
• A wide assortment of containers can be used
• Flowers and foliage will not wilt
• Easily dismantled and rebuilt
• Relatively inexpensive

Permanent Flowers Foliage

• A.K.A. artificial or silk flowers
• Thousands of various flowers available
• Most common type is made of polyester
• New botanical versions resemble as close to the
  real flower as possible.

Dried Plant Materials

• Provide warmth, color, and accent
• Methods of drying
• air-drying
• desiccants
• pressing

Methods of Drying

• Air Drying simple no special equipment or
  supplies needed
• Desiccants - substances that absorb water help
  to retain color and shape.
• E.g. silica gel, detergent powder, kitty litter
• Pressing - used mostly for leaves and small
  flowers

Designing with Everlasting Flowers

• Large diversity in design available
• Stems can be easily manipulated
• Supplies and tools commonly used in these designs
  are glue guns, dry foam, wire cutters, etc.
• Design principles are the same as those used for
  fresh flowers

Maintenance Cleaning

• Everlasting designs should periodically be
  cleaned and dusted
• Special chemicals can be used as well as
  household soap and water.
