83-5 - Every high priest is appointed to offer
both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was
necessary for this one also to have something to
offer. If he were on earth, he would not be a
priest, for there are already men who offer the
gifts prescrib-ed by the law. They serve at a
sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in
heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was
about to build the taberna-cle "See to it that
you make everything according to the pattern
shown you on the mountain."

He offered Himself, once for all time
The Law would prevent Jesus from being a priest
on earth. He serves in Heaven itself, and so
transcends the Law its priesthood
Because it was only figurative repre-sentative
of the True Sanctuary, it had to be
temporarydestined to be replaced by the real
better Sanctuary
It had to be exact in order to accurately
represent what Christ was to accomplish and bring
into effect, sohad to follow the pattern,
exactly!

86-9 - But the ministry Jesus has re-ceived is
as superior to theirs as the cove-nant of which
he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it
is founded on better promises. For if there had
been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no
place would have been sought for another. But God
found fault with the people and said "The time
is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a
new covenant with the house of Israel and with
the house of Judah. It will not be like the
covenant I made with their forefathers when I
took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my
covenant, and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.

The problem described in 99-10 the gifts and
sacrifices being offer-ed were not able to clear
the con-science of the worshiper. They are only a
matter of food and drink and various ceremonial
washings-external regulations applying until the
time of the new order.
Both the covenant and the people under it were
faulty, so God said He would go in a new better
direction, by giving a new better covenant

810-13 - This is the covenant I will make with
the house of Israel after that time, declares the
Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and
write them on their hearts. I will be their God,
and they will be my people. No longer will a man
teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying,
'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest. For I
will forgive their wickedness and will remember
their sins no more." By calling this covenant
"new," he has made the first one obsolete and
what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

Written on their hearts, as in Rom. 122 2Cor.
105 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and
perfect willwe take captive every thought to
make it obedient to Christ.
Will have true knowledge understanding, as in
Eph. 33-5 by revelation there was made known to
me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. And
by referring to this, when you read you can
understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,
which in other generations was not made known to
the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to
His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit
Wont need doctors of the law for every person
can read it and understand it, because it is
revealed applied to all, universallynot to
just one nation or people.
Full forgiveness of sinthe problem finally
resolved, once for all time.
Goes with v. 8 when He said this, in 600 B.C.,
He showed that the Law already was being made
old was close to vanishing away.

91-6 - Now even the first covenant had
regulations of divine worship and the earthly
sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle prepared,
the outer one, in which were the lampstand and
the table and the sacred bread this is called
the holy place. And behind the second veil,
there was a tabernacle which is called the Holy
of Holies, having a golden altar of incense and
the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with
gold, in which was a golden jar holding the
manna, and Aaron's rod which budded, and the
tables of the covenant. And above it were the
cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat
but of these things we cannot now speak in
detail.
The KJ is correct in saying censer. Ex. 306ff
shows that the altar was before or in front
of the veil, not behind it in the second room.
Ex 306-8 - Put the altar in front of the curtain
that is before the ark of the Testimony before
the atonement cover that is over the Testimony
where I will meet with you. Aaron must burn
fragrant incense on the altar every morning when
he tends the lamps. He must burn incense again
when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense
will burn regularly before the Lord for the
generations to come.
Aaron could enter the Most Holy Place only once
per year (Heb. 97) but had to burn incense on
the altar every day of the year. When he entered
the Most Holy he had to take incense and burn it
on the censer he carried with him.

Ex 2521 - And you shall put the mercy seat on
top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the
testimony which I shall give to you. Ex 1633-35
- And Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar and put an
omerful of manna in it, and place it before the
Lord, to be kept throughout your generations." As
the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it
before the Testimony, to be kept Num 1710 -
Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony to
be kept as a sign against the rebels, that you
may put an end to their grumblings against Me,
1 Kings 89 When Solomon brought the ark
into the temple There was noth-ing in the ark
except the two tablets of stone which Moses put
there at Horeb,

shows that the altar was before or in front

once per year (Heb. 97) but had to burn incense
on the altar every day of the year. When he
entered the Most Holy he had to take incense and
burn it on the censer he carried with him.
Many believe the manna rod were placed in front
of the ark, not inside it, and that, for reasons
not revealed, were no longer around by the time
of Solomon.

96-10 - When everything had been arranged like
this, the priests entered regularly into the
outer room to carry on their ministry. But only
the high priest entered the inner room, and that
only once a year, and never with-out blood, which
he offered for him-self and for the sins the
people had committed in ignorance. The Holy
Spirit was showing by this that the way into the
Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as
long as the first tabernacle was still standing.
This is an illustration for the present time,
indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being
offered were not able to clear the conscience of
the worshiper. They are only a matter of food
and drink and various ceremonial washings
-external regulations applying until the time of
the new order.

These details of the ritual required for the
annual atonement sacrifice (detailed in Lev 16)
were more than just strict regulations.
If perfection could have been attained through
the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it
the law was given to the people), why was there
still need for another priest to come-one in the
order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron?
For when there is a change of the priesthood,
there must also be a change of the law. - 711-13
They were showing Israel the limitation
imperfection of their system the need for a
change to a new and better system that would have
no limitation or imperfection.
It pointed to the coming of the new law
priesthoodwas a temporary system destined to be
set aside when Jesus established a new, perfect
system. See 711-13 again.

911-15 - But when Christ appeared as a high
priest of the good things to come, He entered
through the greater and more perfect tabernacle,
not made with hands, that is to say, not of this
creation and not through the blood of goats and
calves, but through His own blood, He entered the
holy place once for all, having obtained eternal
redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls
and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who
have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of
the flesh, how much more will the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your
conscience from dead works to serve the living
God?

He entered into the real tabernacle, the real
dwelling place of God into heaven itself, now
to appear before the face of God for us (v. 24)
Only His own blood could adequately, completely
cleanse the sinner before Godand so He brought
His blood into the presence of God as the perfect
atonement sacrifice.
It wasnt our flesh that needed this cleansing,
it was our conscience and now that blessing is
ours, enabling us to serve God without any
barrier between us and Him.

915 - For this reason Christ is the mediator of
a new covenant, that those who are called may
receive the promised eternal inheritance -now
that he has died as a ransom to set them free

915 - For this reason Christ is the mediator of
a new covenant, that those who are called may
receive the promised eternal inheritance -now
that he has died as a ransom to set them free
from the sins committed under the first covenant.
Through His new covenant, all who come to God by
faith can receive the salvation promised through
the seed of Abraham.
All those annual atonement sacrifices could not
remove forever the penalty of death imposed by
the peoples sins but now, Jesus sacrifice has
set them free, once for all time.
Without the shedding of blood, there is no
forgiveness Heb. 922-
His blood set us all free, once for all time.

Under the Jewish covenant
Now, in the age of Christ, and until the end of

Mt 2628 - This is my blood of the covenant,
which is poured out for many for the forgiveness
of sins. Jn 653-54 - unless you eat the flesh
of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have
no life in you. Acts 2028 - Be shepherds of
the church of God, which he bought with his own
blood.
Eph 213 - But now in Christ Jesus you who once
were far away have been brought near through the
blood of Christ. Col 119-20 - God was pleased
to have all his fullness dwell in him, and
through him to reconcile to himself all things,
whether things on earth or things in heaven, by
making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Rom 324-25 all are justified freely by his
grace through the redemption that came by Christ
Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of
atonement, through faith in his blood. Eph 17
- In him we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins
ALL SINS COMMITTED BY ALL MEN
THROUGHOUT HISTORY
16
1 Pt 118-19 - For you know that it was not with
perishable things such as silver or gold that you
were redeemed from the empty way of life handed
down to you from your forefathers, but with the
precious blood of Christ 1 Jn 17 - But if we
walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Rev 15-6 - To him who loves us and has freed us
from our sins by his blood
Rev 59 - "You are worthy to take the
scroll and to open its seals, because you
were slain, and with your blood you purchased
men for God from every tribe and language and
people and nation.
His blood set us all free, once for all time.
All who sinned before the Jewish covenant

916-22 - For where a covenant is, there must of
necessity be the death of the one who made it.
For a covenant is valid only when men are dead,
for it is never in force while the one who made
it lives. There-fore even the first covenant was
not inau-gurated without blood. For when every
commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the
people according to the Law, he took the blood of
the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet
wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book
it-self and all the people, saying, "This is the
blood of the covenant which God com-manded you."
And in the same way he sprinkled both the
tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry
with the blood. And according to the Law, one
may almost say, all things are cleansed with
blood, and without shedding of blood there is no
forgiveness.
