  • Two Channel System
  • Channel 1 records DME Interrogations
  • Channel 2 records DME under test replies.
  • Two data sets streamed together and analysed to
    produce value for DME reply efficiency.
  • Receiver sensitivity set to that of DME under test

JAF Capabilities
  • Ability to measure DME reply efficiency
  • Time Stamping allows event monitoring
  • Interrogations, replies and JTIDS pulses can be
    measured and analysed at the same time

JAF Capabilities
  • Artificial JTIDS signal can be fed into Dummy DME
    and the effects recorded and analysed in relation
    to the UUT
  • Effect of JTIDS on the DME can be quantified,
    regardless of DME reply efficiency.
  • JAF can record and analyse data from UUT video
    output to validate results

JAF Findings
  • Over a given time period, the percentage effect
    of JTIDS activity can be recorded.
  • Results should allow relaxations to the FCA to be
    applied for based on documented field data.
  • JAF or BMT will provide UK MOD with additional
    compliance monitoring capability

  • Aggressive Programme
  • Ability to monitor RF environment
  • Relies on agreement from the CAA
  • Monitoring may not provide the desired results
  • Technical Support case may prove inconclusive or
    unacceptable
