Junior Clubs
  • There are three Silver Clubs in Surrey
    Wimbledon Racquets Fitness Club, Swifts Junior
    Badminton Club and Racqueteers Junior Badminton
    Club
  • Three further clubs Dorking Junior Badminton
    Club, Ebbiham Badminton Club and Albury Junior
    Badminton club have joined the Active Surrey Club
    Accreditation Scheme and are well on their way to
    achieviing Silver Club status
  • There are a further nine affiliated junior clubs
    and eight unaffilated clubs
  • I am working towards setting up three new junior
    clubs in Woking, Guildford and Kingston

Competion Framework
  • Surrey Schools Badminton Association run a series
    of tournaments at both County and non-County
    standard.
  • Badminton England run three levels of
    competition Bronze, Silver and Gold throughout
    the country
  • There is a Surrey Schools league and a Surrey
    Junior Clubs league. Results for these matches
    can be found on the SCBA website
    www.surreybadminton.co.uk

New Products
  • BIG Programme aimed to support teachers and
    coaches in developing all young badminton players
    from FUNdamentals activity for 4 year olds
    upwards. There are five phases.
  • To support this activity in schools there are
    BISI activity cards grouped into four packs for 6
    16 year olds
  • The new Badminton Junior Helper Award is designed
    for 13 and can be delivered by teachers, ideally
    following a familiarisation course
  • The new Badminton Young Helper award for 16 will
    be available soon

Coach Education Awards
  • AIM
  • To develop the best badminton coach education
    system in the world that, in turn, produces a
    continuous stream of high quality coaches to
    service all levels of badminton in England.

Coach Education Awards
  • BADMINTON England Level 1 and Level 2 courses
    implemented, Level 3 to follow 2005/2006
  • Awards based on best knowledge from a range of
    coaches and specialists from development and
    elite play backgrounds
  • The philosophy behind the awards is that they are
    focussed on HOW and WHAT to coach, and on giving
    coaches the competences to deliver the correct
    skills to players

United Kingdom Coaching Certificate
  • Government-backed initiative to raise the stand
    of coaching and coach education across sports
  • A range of standards that coach education awards
    and systems must meet in order to be approved
  • UK-wide
  • 31 sports have signed up
  • 21 sports (including badminton) tasked with
    delivering UKCC by January 2007
  • The BADMINTON England Level 1 and Level 2 Awards
    have been designed to be suitable for conversion
    into UKCC Awards

    strokes and movement

  • Make the DVD informative and entertaining
  • Produce the best quality footage possible

  • Both a commercial product and a valuable tool in
    increasing coaching knowledge in England

  • AIM to provide insurance for badminton coaches
    in England
  • AIM To provide updating opportunities for coaches
    of all levels
  • 2005 Assimilation workshops for current Coaches
    (Part 1) and Instructors to gain a Level 2
  • Annual English Coaches Conference. Next one is
    20/21 January 2006 in Birmingham
  • The Power Precision magazine provides
    opportunities for coaches to continuously update
    knowledge
  • Surrey Coaches Register offers annual Coaches
    Conference on hot topics
