Format of the Test
  • Two components to the test The Stimulus
    Material READING MAGAZINE and the Actual
    READING TEST
  • Allowed Time for Reading Test 65 minutes
  • Test Conditions as outlined on front of test
    booklet.
  • Test booklet completion procedures name to be
    printed by student in space provided

Looking at the Reading Magazine
  • Contains a variety of articles
  • The articles vary in terms of the genre in which
    they are written ( a story, letters, scientific
    report, poem, web postings)
  • Stimulus material within the article varies may
    be all text (words) or may be text with
    photographs, pictures, maps, graphs, tables
  • Different writing conventions may be used e.g.
    use of footnotes, use of italics

  • It is important to identify to which articles in
    the Reading Magazine specific questions in the
    test booklet relate.
