  • Continue to add to, update and organize Digital

  • Finish adding library information to new website

Medieval Manuscripts Collection
  • Purpose create a digital collection of items in
    Special Collections Medieval Manuscript
    Collection so that students and researchers will
    be able to study items remotely providing higher
    accessibility and preservation of the items
  • Goals
  • Develop Metadata scheme and plan of action
  • Create digital copies of items in collection
  • Upload to ContentDM

  • Couldnt find a good existing metadata schema for
    medieval manuscripts
  • Unsure about Vocabulary

  • Easy to scan with protective Mylar sleeves
  • Edited in Photoshop
  • Save as Tiff and Jpeg
  • Upload Jpeg to ContentDM and add metadata
  • Demo of Book of Hours Leaf

  • Too large for scanner
  • Stress on spine and binding
  • Cant put painted pages directly on glass

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, What did I almost do??!! moment
  • Realize that I have no idea how to safely set-up
    books for photographing
  • Asked Conservation Department for help
  • Re-evaluation of project

New Plan
  • Which books can be safely digitized?
  • Develop workflow form
  • New metadata using input from Conservation and
    Special Collections
  • Photograph largest and safest books, wait for
    top-down scanner for others
