Adelaide Hills Council Library Service
  • SMS Text Messaging
  • Part of Adelaide Hills 'Busy People _at_ the
Library' program which promotes online access to
    its library services.
  • Time saving rather than a cost saving measure.

Overdue notices with fines attached are more

system then sends SMS messages through the email
parameters onto Telstra OnlineSMS and then to the
borrower's mobile phone number and email address

35
Adelaide Hills Council Library Service
  • Notices are generated as part of regular notice
    generation in overnight 'housekeeping
  • To activate the service, the customer's record
    requires
  • SMS typed in front of mobile phone number
  • An email address
  • Delivery notification method set to 'E' for
    email

36
Adelaide Hills Council Library Service
  • Borrowers simultaneously receive a text message
and an email that advises title of item, pickup
location and date 2B picked up e.g. 'Please pick
up reservation for The Magnificent Seven from
    Stirling Library by 22/8/03'
  • Customers can reply to their message which goes
to an library nominated email account which is
    checked regularly by staff.
  • Messages that 'bounce' also 'bounce' back to
these nominated account generating a printed
notice instead which asks for new number or email
    address
