General information/main features
  • The camp is spread over a number of locations in
    Austria, Italy and France with possible races in
    Andora and Slovenia.
  • The emphasis will be on a compact group with the
    flexibility to run a mobile program to allow
    training and races in a number of locations.
  • The aim will be to achieve high quality and
    volume of training, as well as to build up racing
    mileage in regional and children International
    FIS races.
  • High emphasis will be given to the fun factor
    in skiing and free time to ensure the camp is an
    amazing experience.
  • Quality infrastructure and a high coach to
    athlete ratio.
  • An optional, term one education program, will be
    part of the camp to allow athletes to stay in
    Europe throughout February.

Camp Description
  • Proposed dates 10 December 3 March 2007.
  • The program will consist of intensive training
    and racing, supplemented by physical training.
    Previous camp experience is necessary. All
    athletes will be expected to participate in a ski
    specific fitness program in the months leading up
    to a camp.
  • Athletes are required to stay in the camp
    accommodation and are looked after by camp staff.
    A good deal of independence and self reliance is
    expected of each participant.
  • It is expected that the best performing under 14
    athletes from Mt Buller will attend this camp
    however it is open to similar level racers from
    other Australian clubs.
  • Places are limited.

Program Outline - Training
  • December 10-20 Glacier (Stubai Austria)
  • Huge amount of free skiing taking advantage of
  • the amazing scope of high altitude terrain to
  • improve skills like gliding, speed skiing, long
    run
  • endurance, deep powder, Super-G skiing, jumps
  • etc. We progress gradually towards GS/ Super-
  • G courses.
  • December 21 25 (Oulx Italy)
  • GS training with Claviere Race Club on the high
  • quality GS runs in Claviere and Montgenevre Ski
  • resorts. Both areas offer challenging and
    technical
  • GS courses on hard snow and with consistently
  • good weather, the training there is very
    effective.
  • Training with Italian racers will provide
    additional
  • challenge to our kids.
  • December 27- 2 January, (3 Vallees-France)
  • Time to have some fun and ski with families and
  • January Oulx - Vialattea - Montgenevre
  • This is a time to put in some volume of quality
    SL
  • and GS training to maximize technical
  • development. The training areas of Sestriere,
  • Claviere, Frais,Montgenevre offer high quality
    and
  • variety of hill space options to satisfy all our
    training
  • needs. Training opportunities with local racers
  • provide for added stimulation and accelerate
  • improvement. During January, kids also do their
  • school work at our base in Oulx. During this
    month,
  • we will participate in local regional races
    throughout
  • the Vialattea (Torino Olympics) region.
  • February 4 - 12
  • International children FIS series competitions.
  • The options are Andora/Spain or Slovenia.
  • February 13 30 Oulx or Dolomity - Sud Tirol
  • Continue training with the next focus being

Program Outline - Racing
  • The group will attend a maximum possible number
    of regional races in the Milky Way ski area, in
    the French region of Southern Alps, in Dolomity.
  • International Childrens Races are being planned
    as part of the program, the final choice of races
    is yet to be finalized but it is expected that
    the kids will have up to 4 starts (2xSL and 2xGS)
    in International competitions.

Days off activities Parents
  • To keep the program fresh and interesting, a
  • range of alternative activities will be available
  • during regularly scheduled days off. These will
  • include
  • Visit Insbruck beautifull heart of Tirol
  • Visit Verona legendary/old Italian city
  • Visit Torino the host of 2006 winter olympics
  • Trips to Briancon picturesque town in the heart
    of Hautes Alpes (France)
  • Joint activities with kids of local Italian race
    clubs of Sauze DOulx, and Claviere.
  • (like Chistmas and New Year festivities)
  • Other day off activities will be swimming,
  • ice skating, a dinner high in the alps with
    skidoo
  • ride there and back, shopping, socializing with
  • local kids, recovery sessions, relaxing.
  • Parents and families planning a visit over the
  • Christmas/New year period, would be advised to
  • book in 3 Valle ski area in the French Savoie
    Alps
  • from December 26 January 3.
  • The best towns to check are Meribel, Val Thorens
  • or Courchevel. These towns offer enormous skiing
  • potential as well as developed infrastructure and
    a
  • wide range of Apre-ski activities.
  • Parents need to advise us if they want their kids
    to
  • stay with them or remain in the camp
  • accommodation during this time.
  • Further advise and assistance can be provided to
  • parents wishing to visit the camp on application.

Children Camp Important Facts
  • There is a maximum of 7 spots in the childrens
    Performance camp.
  • Participants are generally required to stay for
    11 weeks, live in camp accommodation and fully
    adhere to the training program, camp rules and
    regulations.
  • The camp is designed for 13 14 year old
    athletes who have demonstrated strong or
    improving skiing performance and have previous
    camp experience.
  • A commitment to the sport is rated highly.
    Athletes who fall within the above criteria and
    enter early will be given priority consideration.
  • Athletes in this program will be required to
    actively participate in the ski-specific fitness
    program prior to commencement of the camp during
    October and November 2006. Fitness testing will
    be part of this program.
  • All athletes, their parents or guardians will be
    required to sign a code of conduct and hold
    appropriate travel and racing insurance.
  • All athletes must be SSA registered racers.
  • Athletes and their parents must agree that the
    design of the training and racing programs and
    individual selections for races is at the sole
    discretion of coaches.
  • A final selection of the team is a discretion of
    the camp organizers and the Head Coach.
  • Selections for International Children FIS races
    is guided by SSA points awarded to each racer
    based on performance from Australian
    competitions.

Additional Features Accommodation
  • As indicated before, joint training sessions with
    local clubs and racers will be structured
    whenever possible, to provide our athletes with
    exposure to European training standards, levels
    of skiing and the training and racing mentality
    of their European peers.
  • Every effort will be made to go and see a World
    Cup race.
  • Most meals will be prepared by the camp cook.
    When traveling or racing, athletes are sometimes
    required to buy their lunches.
  • Austria Neustift 3 star apartment accommodation
    with cooking and ski tuning facilities. Access to
    Gondola is by 20 minutes drive.
  • Nearest town Insbruck 25 minutes
  • Italy Oulx 3 star residence with cooking
    facilities, small gym area, laundry, large ski
    tuning area, wireless internet, video room,
    phone/fax, room cleaning service and a large
    private car park.
  • Access to five ski areas is 15-35 minutes drive,
    nearest towns are
  • Torino (Italy) 1 hour drive
  • Briancon (France) 35 min drive

  • A nine-seat minivan equipped with roof rack,
    winter tires and snow chains. Trailer.
  • Training gates for SL, GS and SG
  • Super-G and downhill training skis available to
    all athletes.
  • Ski tuning benches and equipment.
  • Dry land equipment including weights, stat bikes,
    swiss balls, agility sets etc.
  • Video recording equipment and Dartfish training
    software.
  • High speed capture photo camera for detailed
    technical analysis.
