  • The Academy for Government Accountability will
    support research and education initiatives, and
    advance thought leadership in government
    financial management by forging relationships
    among government, business, academia and
    interested others.

  • SOME BRIEF FACTS
  • 501 (c) (3) organization
  • Incorporated in Virginia since 1979
  • Original intent was to provide education and
    research services to the AGA
  • Several projects have been completed over the
    years
  • July 2002 Article "Aiming for Accuracy Financial
    Managers Are Trying to Get More Timely and Useful
    Information to Decision-Makers"

  • RESURRECTING THE ACADEMY
  • In 2005, the Academy was reintroduced to the AGA
    National Executive Committee (NEC) with a revised
    mission
  • Dr. Sridhar Ramamoorti, Partner, Grant Thornton
    was named Chair by the NEC
  • AGA committed 200,000 to fund the Academy in
    supporting basic research projects there's
    nothing so practical as a good theory (Kurt
    Lewin)
  • Revised bylaws were presented and approved by the
    NEC in February 2006
