  • THE CHARACTERS
  • The main character is Shirley Temple. She has to
move to move from China to America with her
family. When she goes to school for her first
time everyone is making fun of her because she
cant speak English very well. Then she starts
learning the concept in America of the way of
    life.

3
The Setting
  • It takes place in China for a little while. Then
Shirley and her family move to America to live.

4
MOOD
  • I think this book is a little sad because
Shirley moves to America from China. She doesnt
know how to speak English. Then it gets more
happier when she gets more friends and learns how
to speak English. Then she learns how to live in
    America.

5
Beginning Plot
  • Fifth cousin lives in China with his Mom and Dad.
Her grandmother is the president of China. Shes
shocked that she is moving to America.

6
Middle Plot
  • Fifth cousins name is now Shirley Temple.
Shirley finally meets a new friend. Then Jackie
    Robinson struggles with civil rights.

7
The End Plot
  • In the end of the book Shirley meets Jackie
Robinson, her idol. This will always be a
memorial year in 1947 for Shirley temple Wong.

8
Awards
  • In the Year of The Boar and Jackie Robinson did
    not win a award.

9
My Recomendation
  • I recommend this book because there are a lot of
funny parts that Shirley uses in the China
culture o the American culture. I think its good
for 11 and 10 year old kids because it tells how
other kids struggle from them moving to our
    country from different country.
