All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly
equipped for every good work.

2 Peter 119-20

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed,
which you do well to heed as a light that shines
in a dark place, until the day dawns and the
morning star rises in your hearts knowing this
first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any
private interpretation, for prophecy never came
by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as
they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Introduction

The number one reason for accepting the
Scriptures as having been "God-breathed" is
fulfilled prophecy.
The Messiah is the most frequent subject of Old
Testament prophecy.

"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or
the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to
fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven
and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will
by no means pass from the law till all is
fulfilled."

in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the
Psalms concerning Me."

Introduction

The number one reason for accepting the
Scriptures as having been "God-breathed" is
fulfilled prophecy.
The Messiah is the most frequent subject of Old
Testament prophecy.
If the Scriptures were fulfilled by Jesus, and
Jesus was sent by God, then we ought to accept
the scriptures as having been "God-breathed."

the law, to redeem those who were under the law,
that we might receive the adoption as sons. (Gal.

clothed with the sun, with the moon under her
feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
Then being with child, she cried out in labor and
in pain to give birth. And another sign appeared
in heaven behold, a great, fiery red dragon
having seven heads and ten horns, and seven
diadems on his heads. His tail drew a third of
the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.

ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon
as it was born. She bore a male Child who was to
rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her
Child was caught up to God and His throne. Then
the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has
a place prepared by God, that they should feed
her there one thousand two hundred and sixty
days.

And war broke out in heaven Michael and his
angels fought with the dragon and the dragon and
his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor
was a place found for them in heaven any longer.
So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of
old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the
whole world he was cast to the earth, and his
angels were cast out with him.

Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a
second time out of heaven, and said "... In your
seed all the nations of the earth shall be
blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." (Gen.
2215-18)

Moreover the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying,
"Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God
ask it either in the depth or in the height
above." But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, nor will

house of David! Is it a small thing for you to
weary men, but will you weary my God also?

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son,
and shall call His name Immanuel. Curds and honey
He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil
and choose the good. For before the Child shall

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows
After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
before they came together, she was found with
child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her
husband, being a just man, and not wanting to
make her a public example, was minded to put her
away secretly. But while he thought about these

dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be
afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that
which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet,
saying "Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the
angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him
his wife, and did not know her till she had
brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called

and scribes of the people together, he inquired
of them where the Christ was to be born. So they

went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world
should be registered. This census first took
place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all
went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David,
which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the
house and lineage of David, to be registered with

inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and
supplication then they will look on Me whom they
pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one
mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as
one grieves for a firstborn." (Zech. 1210)

Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day,
that the bodies should not remain on the cross on
the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day),
the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be
broken, and that they might be taken away. Then
the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
and of the other who was crucified with Him. But
when they came to Jesus and saw that He was
already dead, they did not break His legs.

Admittedly, we have not dealt with all of the Old
Testament's predictions of the Messiah.
But Jesus clearly fulfilled many of them.

a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by
night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You
are a teacher come from God for no one can do
these signs that You do unless God is with him."
