Current Conditions
  • Parking demand is highest in East Campus.
  • There has been a loss of parking in East campus
    with the demolition of the Hayward Garage and
    closing of the Sloan Lot.
  • Loss of space in the NW campus Pacific Lot
    closed for dorm construction.
  • A shift of parkers toward West campus is once
    again necessary to meet demand.
  • East Campus Occasional Parkers will be assigned
    to lots based on office location.

Current Conditions2007-2008 Allocations
  • FACT The campus parking inventory is lower that
    previous years. There are fewer spaces to
    allocate this year.
  • Allocations adjusted based on headcount and
    availability of space.
  • Several department allocations moved from NE to
    North.
  • Several department allocations moved from North
    to West Garage.

Current Conditions
  • All Lots Placards will be tightly controlled.
  • Prox readers were installed at all parking gates.
  • All parkers need an up to date MIT ID.

Carpool/VanpoolPaper Application Process
  • Return to a paper application.
  • http//web.mit.edu/facilities/transportation/parki
    ng/employee/index.htmlcarpool
  • Primary Parker owns carpool/pays fee
  • Secondary Parker(s) member(s)/no fee
  • Primary parker application must contain names of
    all carpool or vanpool members
  • Application completed by all MIT
    Carpool/Vanpool members.
  • Parking Coordinator of Primary parker bundles
    applications and submits them to P T office.
  • P T office returns all permits and hang tag to
    Parking Coordinator for distribution.

Temporary Parking Permits
  • A Parking permit is required on every vehicle
    parked on campus from 730AM to 5PM, Monday
    through Friday.
  • If a rental or alternate vehicle is brought to
    campus, it must display a Temporary parking
    permit or a violation will be issued.
  • Notes are not acceptable.
  • Temporary parking permits are available at the
    Parking Office.
