  • Philippines consist of 7,107 volcanic islands off
    the Southeast coast of Asia
  • Population is about 60 million

Social Organization
  • The Filipino social units are the family, groups
    and community life while the structure is the
    lineage, marriage decent, neighborhood, peer
    groups and villages.
  • The prefer structured ways of life rather than
    one in which a person can be assertive of
    individuality.
  • They are less autonomous and more dependent.
  • A Filipino child is encouraged to tell all of his
    thoughts to his parents and submit to his parents
    direction, counsel and advise.
  • The family is considered the only source of
    emotional economic and moral support.

  • Religious responsibilities are familial rather
    than church centered.
