Additional Important Information
  • Medicine- Must be brought in by a parent.
  • Transportation- Changes can not be from bus to
    bus. They can be made from bus to car rider.
  • Absences- Notes must be sent in to excuse them
    within five days.

When your child is absent
  • When a student is absent you may email me and I
    will email the lesson home. This is very
    important to remember, because getting behind is
    stressful.

Standardized Tests Given in 5th Grade
  • ITBS Testing
  • - a national standardized test containing
    questions that are below, on, and above
    students ability levels
  • - compared nationally
  • COGAT Testing
  • - an intelligence test that measures students
    overall logic and reasoning ability

  • CRCT Testing
  • - a state standardized test that assesses your
    childs mastery of Georgias 5th grade
    curriculum
  • - schools are graded based on these scores
  • -students must pass the reading and math
    section in 5th grade in order to be promoted to
    6th grade
  • Georgia Writing Assessment
  • -The writing assessment for grade five consists
    of an evaluation of each student s response to
    an assigned prompt.. Students are assigned a
    topic from a prompt bank representing three
    genres narrative, informational, and persuasive.
    Students are allowed approximately 120 minutes to
    write their essays. The writing assessment must
    be administered in one day. A make-up is also
    given the following day.

  • Our curriculum is Harcourt Science.
  • We will be studying Earth Science, Physical
    Science, and Life Science.
  • Assessments will include hands on activities,
    projects, and tests.

Responsibility
  • All students are required to help clean up the
    classroom at the end of the day. Classroom jobs
    will be shared all year long.
  • Students are responsible for books that they lose
    textbooks and literature books.
  • Students must copy their homework assignments
    from the board into their agendas and the
    homework is due on the due date.
